The Memorandum of Agreement and the Material Transfer Agreement were established between Euang Phet Co. Ltd., Lao PDR, and the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum, School of Biological Sciences, The University of Hong Kong, on 15 September 2025.
This research will be conducted in Khammouane Province and the area around Nam Pien Yorlapa (Phou Khao Khouay), with the aim of sampling leaf litter ant communities in 20 to 30 plots per region, each plot measuring 20 × 20 meters.

- It is required to share research results and related publications with local project partners and the Lao ABS authority, in order to acknowledge the resource providers.
- This permission applies only to the specific research mentioned above.
- If further experiments on the biological resources or Digital Sequencing Information (DSI) are conducted for commercialization purposes, the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum, School of Biological Sciences, University of Hong Kong, must inform the relevant authorities and establish a new ABS agreement.
- Acknowledgement of the country of origin of the genetic resources is required when producing or using DSI derived from these resources.
The collected samples mentioned above should not be shared with any third party without prior permission from the Lao ABS authority and the local implementation partner in Lao PDR
Ant samples (Formicidae) will be exported from Lao PDR to the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum, School of Biological Sciences, University of Hong Kong for research on performing taxonomic revisions on several ant genera.
